Can a parent moniter what phone calls come in and out on a home phone?

Its a home phone thats a land line. Is there any way on the internet or the phone bill that you can see what numbers are coming in, or what numbers you dial out? i don't know if you have to pay extra for that or even if it exists. please help its important. Can a parent moniter what phone calls come in and out on a home phone?
yes, if the phone is in your name, you have the right to monitor the activity on your phone line.

Monitor is easy, go to Radio Shack and buy a device that connects the phone line to a tape recorder.

To monitor the dialed numbers, that is a bit harder. This requires a DTMF (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) or TouchTone decoder. They are available but cost several hundred dollars. You can find them on eBay as used telco equipment. If you want new, check out www.ramsey.com Ramsey Electronics. They sell kits as well as assembled kits.

In calls require a CallerID box and to pay the telco for callerID service. Can a parent moniter what phone calls come in and out on a home phone?
the CID on your phones should display all incoming telephone calls...

many land line telephone companies do not provide itemized bills for local calls... but you should check with your local provider, many of them are now providing additional account information on there website...

it is ILLEGAL to record a telephone conversation with out the consent of at least one person involved in the telephone conversation (and in some areas you require everyone to consent to the recording) while i am too lazy to look for a link right now, but at least one parent was found guilty of secretly recording there minor's telephone conversations....
