How long does a parent have to go without seeing their child before its considered abandonment in Ky?

My son is almost 5 months old and his father has only seen him once when he was 3 weeks old. Now hes taking me to court for custody. Just wanna know if the abandonment clause suits this case. Thanks in advance. How long does a parent have to go without seeing their child before its considered abandonment in Ky?
Go to your local library or ask legal aid what the statute is in KY. In Illinois it is 2 years but back home in Massachusettts it is 1 year so as you can see it varies from state to state. You might wanna check out megalaw.com %26amp; look up your state's statutes; that's where the answers are !!! If you can read a Bible, you can read law books (LOL). A ballpark guess would be abandonment won't come into play BUT you can shoot for NEGLECT (no support, visitation, etc.). Custody? OMG Get all your documentation in order %26amp; put it before a judge %26amp; I'll bet that judge will laugh his assets outta court ! If you two weren't married he first must be ajudicated (prove he's the baby's bio father) b4 his motion will even be considered. You stick to your guns sweetie %26amp; contact me if need be. XO

Keeping y'all in my prayers! How long does a parent have to go without seeing their child before its considered abandonment in Ky?
It depends on the reason why child not seen.

I believe abandonment is when BOTH parents collectively fail to watch over the child's needs.

For example, the child is left alone in home while you go off to get some groceries. You might be gone only 15 minutes, but that can be called abandonment.
