What is the difference between the parent cell and the two cells that come about via mitosis?

Don't the two cells have the same properties? What is the difference between the parent cell and the two cells that come about via mitosis?
Unless there is a mutation, they should be exact copies of each other. The only real difference is that the daughter cells would be smaller.

yes the four cells from meiosis have half as many chromosomes as the parent cells, also each of the four cells are genetic individuals. What is the difference between the parent cell and the two cells that come about via mitosis?
They have the same properties, but are in different stages.
mitosis is supposed to produce two genetically identical daughter cells, while meiosis not only produces 4 cells, with half the genetic information of the parent cell, it also undergoes other things like crossing over ( exchange of some genes between homologous chromosomes) to try and get even greater variation.
