Does having a parent work for a company of the college increase your chances of acceptance?

My mother works for Hershey Medical Center, a ';family'; of Penn State. This also entitles me to a 75% off tuition reimbursement. Does having family that works for PSU system increase/help my chances of getting admitted?Does having a parent work for a company of the college increase your chances of acceptance?
Most definitely. Dont you notice in every application they ask whether or not your parent (s) is affiliated with the university. So I think it does increase you chances of getting accepted to the school if you are in good academic standing. It is not a guaranteed. I think if they have to pick between two equally qualified candidate for their school, they will pick the one that is affiliated with the school. It odes give you a slight edge in that regard.

Not really, no. Not usually. She'd need to be a pretty high powered person at the medical center for her to have any influence/pull at all. In general, you need to get in on your own merits. The advantage to you, obviously, is the tuition discount.
probably. having a family member work in where u want to get in is a huge help. but if i were you, i'd try other schools. u wouldn't want people saying you just got in bec. of her and not coz ur smart, do you?
No it doesn't.
